  • Fire
  • Fires in homes are a serious issue. Often fatal fires are the result of not having a working smoke alarm or carbon monoxide dectector. You can prevent fires through simple steps. Make sure you have a properly working smoke detector and carbon monoxide alarm, change the batteries at least once a year. Plan and practice a family escape route. Learn how to use your fire extinguisher and remember if your clothes catch on fire to: Stop, Drop and Roll. If you are evacuating a burning building don't go through doors whose handles are hot. Leave your house, call for help. Do not go back to help someone else.

 Pledge to drive cell free

How many will it take? Thousands die needlessly each year because people continue to use their cell phones while driving. View some of their tragic stories. Make the decision to stop using your phone behind the wheel today.

NSC estimates almost 25 percent of car crashes involve cell phone use. Driving is a complex task that requires eyes on the road, hands on the wheel and the brain focused on the task of driving. Drivers engaged in cell phone conversations, handheld or hands-free, are cognitively distracted and can fail to see up to 50 percent of their driving environment including stop signs, pedestrians and red lights.

Pledge like a life depends on it. Because it does.

Tell us on Facebook why you have taken the pledge.

I pledge to drive cell free:

  • Having a phone conversation - handheld or hands-free
  • Texting
I dedicate my pledge to:

(For example, to your children because you want to see them graduate.)
