Joseph L. Fulk, Jr.

Joseph Leonard Fulk, Jr., 33, of Crooksville passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, June 16, 2018.

He was born July 19, 1984, in Columbus, the son of Joseph and Lisa (Snider) Fulk of Corning.

Joseph bravely served and fought for his country overseas during Operation Iraqi Freedom as a proud United States Marine. After his two tours of duty, Joe headed back stateside where he completed the five year IBEW apprenticeship, following the completion of the program Joe worked for Local Union 683 as a certified electrician and would later be an instructor for the very program he completed. Joe was a true outdoorsman, he enjoyed deer and squirrel hunting, shooting guns, riding his razor and spending his days riding his motorcycle. In addition to his love for the outdoors, Joe had an even greater admiration for his family, especially his loving parents, he was never one to miss his mother's Sunday dinners. But Joe's greatest joys in life were his wife, Helen and his darling sons, Owen, Oliver and Henry, there is no greater love that Joe had than for his family.

In addition to his parents, Joe leaves behind his loving wife, Helen (Bobb) Fulk; his precious children, Owen Joseph Fulk, Oliver Jaxon Fulk and Henry Adam Fulk; his siblings, Haley (James) Montgomery, Ben (Courtny) Fulk and Andrew (Jenna) Fulk; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Tim and Lisa Bobb; his maternal grandparents, Pat and Jim Snider; his aunts Suzanne (Donna) Snider; his uncle, Mark (Christy) Snider, his nieces and nephews, Karter, Connor, Blaine, Weston, Parker and Sophia and his best childhood friends, Casey Heiney and James Grimmett.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Carl and Mary Catherine Fulk and other aunts and uncles.

The Fulk family will be receiving friends, 2:00 PM-8:00 PM, Thursday, June 21, 2018 at the Goebel Funeral Home, 36 N. Buckeye St., Crooksville. Funeral services and a celebration of Joe's life will be 11:00 AM, Friday, June 22 at the funeral home with Fr. Daniel Schwartz officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Cemetery where full Military Honors will be presented by the U.S. Marine Corps Honor Guard with the assistance of the VFW Post 9090 and the American Legion Post 222.

Memorial contributions may be made in Joe's name to an account which has been set up to help offset funeral costs at the People's National Bank, 55 N. Main St., Roseville, Ohio. Envelopes will be made available at the funeral home.

 

David P. Green

David Patrick Green, age 78, passed away Saturday, June 2, 2018 at his home of 56 years. Born November 29, 1939 in Columbus, OH. He was a longtime member of I.B.E.W. 683 and an avid outdoorsman. Preceded in death by parents, Robert and Lillian; siblings, Robert Jr., Michael, Norene, and Betty. Survived by wife of 58 years, Dianna Green; children, David (Karen) Green, Kathy (Jack) Surline, Craig Green, and Jeffrey (Melodie) Green; sisters, Charlene and Marilyn; 9 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; special canine companion, Pup; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Friends may call Thursday, June 7, 2018, from 5 until time of funeral service at 7 p.m. at the O.R. WOODYARD CO. SOUTH CHAPEL, 1346 S. High St. in Columbus. Rev. Dr. William L. Snider officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are encouraged to the Kidney Foundation.

 

David R. Dudley

David R. Dudley, 53, passed away on June 9, 2018. He was born on December 6, 1964. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Herman & Daisy Dudley; maternal grandparents, Raymond & Esta Moore; father, Alvin E. Dudley; and daughter, Santana Smith. 

Survived by mother, Wilma Dudley; sisters, Robbin Hicks and Amy (Daniel) Lang, Bridget (Chuck) Maynard; children, Aimee Dudley, Mystee (Stanley) Turner, Joseph Holbrook, and Rio Hagerman; grandchildren, Kadin, Gabriel, Damien, Viviana, and Savannah; nephews, Josh Weldon, DJ Lang, Dustin Lang, Blake Lang, Chuckie Maynard, Jeff Maynard, TJ Hicks, Lucas Whittington; nieces, Becca Whittington, Brianna Lehosit, Torii Hicks, Peyton Whittington, Sophia & Eliana Lehosit. 

Member of the IBEW for the past 35 years and a member of the Ohio Bowhunters Association for most of his life. Avid bow hunter and Harley die hard. David always gave back to his community by serving as a coach for wrestling, baseball, and softball. 

Visitation Tuesday, June 12, 2018 from 5-8pm at Newcomer, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH. Funeral Service Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at 10am at the Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Franklin Hills Memory Gardens, Canal Winchester, OH. 

Gary L. Smith

Gary Lee Smith, age 77, of Hilliard, Ohio, passed away Friday, May 11, 2018. Born in Gauley Bridge, WV to the late W.E. “Smitty” and Margaret Smith. Gary was a graduate of Columbus Central High School and retired from Liebert Corp. after 37 years of service where he was Head Facilities Electrical Engineer. He was a proud member and Instructor of IBEW, Local #683. He attended Dublin Baptist Church. Gary was a member and instructor for IAEI for many years. Gary designed and built the electrical portion of Hilliard First Baptist Church. He received an honorary degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Tennessee. Gary was an electrical and electrical code savant. He was preceded in death by his parents Smitty and Margaret Smith, sister Betty Marcum, brother Paul Legg and his grandson Beau Gray. He is survived by his brothers Glenville (Rita) Smith of Cape Girardeau, MO and Rick (Anna) Smith of Mechanicsburg, OH; his children: Lisa (Randall J.) Parsons of Grove City, OH, Gary Alan Smith of Dublin, OH, Andrew C. (Chelsea) Smith of Lewis Center, OH and Lora Lea (Thomas D.) Karn of Westerville, OH; his grandchildren: Alexandria (Ethan) Lavigne, Adrianna Parsons, Jared Alan (Tyler) Smith-Valentine, Aaron Nicholas Smith, Chloe Jackson, Elizabeth Lea Gray, Eleah A. Gray, Evona Lora Gray, Ethan Alec Gray and Ellanora Ann Karn, and many cousins and friends. Robert R. Mills

Robert Mills, 38, passed away on February 26, 2018. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Adabelle Mills, Robert R. Mills, Ruby Callihan, Homer Callihan.

Surviving family includes wife, Mindy, children, Robert and Payden, parents, Robert R. and Ocie Mills, step-father, Robert Edward Adams sister, Samantha Mills, brothers, Gerald "JR" Mills, Gabe Todd, Robert Adams and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Celebration of life to be held Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the American Legion, 1571 Demorest Rd, Col., OH 43228. Service to begin at 5:30pm and celebration to immediately follow.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-6pm, Sunday, March 4, 2018 at Newcomer, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH, where a memorial service will begin at 6pm.

 Robert L. Liston

Robert L. "Bob" Liston, age 79, of Whitehall, passed away at home on February 22, 2018 after an 8-year battle with Parkinson's disease. He was born on August 8, 1938 in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late Donald and Clarice (Sumner) Liston. He graduated from West High School in 1956. Survived by his wife of 52 years, Sharron; daughters, Susan (Rocco) Maiolo and grand dog, Oscar, Debra (Eric) Booher and their children. Also surviving is sister, Donna Jones; and several nieces and nephews. He was a proud and active member of IBEW Local 683 for 42 years and for 29 of those years held a treasury position for the union golf league. In 1988 he received the Builders Exchange (BX) Craftsmanship Award for his work at Discover Card Services, Inc. He retired in 2001 from Mid-City Electric, where the last 14 years were spent at Battelle Memorial Institute. He loved golf, cards, bowling, hockey, football, and traveling to Gatlinburg, TN. He served as President of the IHL Checkers Booster Club and Treasurer for the Whitehall Civic Celebrations Association (WCCA). He was a volunteer for the food pantry at Eastview United Methodist Church and was an active member of the Whitehall Senior Citizens Center. The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Wexner Zusman Hospice for all their care and support during these difficult past months. Friends may call Sunday 1-5 PM, EVANS FUNERAL HOME, 4171 E. Livingston Ave. and Monday 1 hour prior to service, where funeral service will be held Monday 11 AM.  Richard L. Sampson

Richard Lane Sampson, age 85, of Reynoldsburg, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2018. Lane was born January 24, 1933 to the late James and Dessa (McWhortor) Sampson in Wheeling , WV. He was a veteran  of the U.S.  Army  stationed  at Fort Knox, Kentucky  and Straubing,  Germany. Lane  was  a lifelong '   member of the IBEW 683 and also worked as a part time custodian for Reynoldsburg City Schools. He was in the Commercial Sign Industry for more than 50 years. Lane was a devoted husband and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family. He is survived by his sons, Jeffrey, William, and Thomas (Stacey) Sampson; grandchildren , Lauren and Alexander. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Jane Sampson; brothers, Albert and James; sisters, Virginia , Violet and Almajean . A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 from 6-8 PM, at the PFEIFER FUNERAL HOME, Reynoldsburg, where his funeral service will follow on Wednesday 10 AM, with Pastor Karl Hanf officiating. Robert Chance Sr.

CHANCE , Sr., Robert E. Age 88, of Springfield, passed away Dec. 31, 2017. Graveside Jan. 8, 1 PM at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Jackson Lytle & Lewis Life Celebration Center.

  
Marion L. "Joe" Hoover
Marion L. "Joe" Hoover, age 85, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2017. Joe was born on October 6, 1932 to the late Herman M. and Opal P. (Lawson) Hoover in The Bottoms on the west side of Columbus. He attended Avondale, Chicago Avenue, Highland Avenue grade schools and West Jr. High School. He was a graduate of Albany High School in Athens County where he was elected Senior Class President and lettered in basketball and baseball. He lived with his grandparents, L.V. and Effie Lawson while attending high school. He married Beverly A. Glaze on December 10, 1955 and they have spent nearly 62 wonderful years of married life together. Joe is survived by Beverly; daughters, LaDesta (aka Leslie) Dick, Mitzi (Andy) Wells and Jennifer (Eric) Huffman; grandchildren, Katie (Justin) Crane, Kelsey Dick, David Dick, Sara (Matthew) Dickey, Marie (Dennis) Langenkamp and Ellen (Nathan) Tigner; as well as two great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Larry Hoover of Rancho Cucamonga, California. Joe started an electrical apprenticeship with IBEW Local 683 in 1951. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS New Kent APA 217 during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1954 as Electrician's Mate 3rd Class. He then resumed his union apprenticeship and became a Journeyman Electrician. He worked in the union office for nearly 25 years as assistant to the Business Manager and the last 15 years prior to retirement, as the Business Manager and Financial Secretary of IBEW Local 683. Other Union positions held were Job Steward, Vice President and President. He also served on numerous committees. Joe was the past president of the Ohio State Electrical Workers and past president of the Southern Ohio Business Manager's Conference. He was the Sergeant at Arms and Executive Board member of the Franklin County M.O.S.T. Committee. Joe served extensively in the community on the Mayor's committee for the Fire District One in Columbus and was a founding member of the Whitehall/Bexley Rotary Club. He served on the board of directors of COTA (Central Ohio Transit Authority) and served a three-year term for the IBEW on the CIR (Council on Industrial Relations) in Washington D.C. He served ten years as a commissioner for CMHA (Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority). He was a long-time member of the Colonial City Moose Lodge 2555 in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, a member of the American Legion Post 0090, Ft. Myers, Florida and a member of Local 683 Retiree's Club. Joe and Beverly spent many happy winters in their southern home in Cape Coral, Florida. Family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 pm Thursday at Schoedinger East Chapel, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., where the funeral service will be held 10 am Friday, November 3, 2017. Pastor Ralph Short officiating. Interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
