Retiree information

May 11, 2018

Attention Retirees:

Just a reminder about our meeting scheduled for May 15th, beginning at noon. We will have nominations for officers. Pizza will be served, so please RSVP by emailing Sharron Liston at, calling Bob Garish at 614-560-5947 or Chuck Thompson at 614-535-8052, leave message if possible. Hope to see you there!

The March 20th scheduled meeting was met with sparse attendance, in fact, we did not have enough people attend to have a quorum (13) for a formal meeting.  After having a very good lunch, thanks to those who brought food, we decided to have an informal discussion on where the retirees club is headed and some directions to strive for down the road.

As president of the retirees club, I made the following decisions:

          A)  April 17th regular meeting will be suspended.

          B)  Nominations for officers will be at the May 15th regular meeting.

          C)  Election of officers will be at the June 19th meeting.

          D)  The May 15th regular meeting will (tentatively) be at the new hall 939 Goodale Blvd., rear entrance.  Look for more info on your email.

          E)  The May 15th meeting we will be having "pizza, subs and salad."  Bring dessert.

          F)  The June 19th meeting will be our annual picnic at Gantz Park in Grove City, bring a dessert.

          G)  All meetings will start at 12 noon.

Please "RSVP" to the "pizza and the picnic" so that we are sure to have enough food and we know how many to expect.  You may do this by emailing Sharron Liston at, calling Bob Garish at 614-560-5947 or Chuck Thompson at 614-535-8052, leave message if possible.

Please look for any updates on your email.  Those not having a computer, we will be sending out postcards with info.

Once we get moved back to our hall, we can re-group and plan some things to do this year.

At the May 15th meeting we will be taking donations for "Touching Little Lives."

The local union "Chuck Bland Fish Fry" will be Friday, June 1, 2018.  The retirees will be doing a 50/50 raffle and taking donations for "Bicycles for Veteran's Kids."  The bicycle fund kicks off in April and bicycles and donations for bicycles can be made by mail or drop bicycles off or will be picked up.  Call Chuck Thompson for more info, 614-535-8052.  They do NOT have to be assembled.

We are trying to improve communication with our retired members.  We need to know not just about accidents, sicknesses, and deaths.  We also need members' input to help make our organization functional, and to operate for the betterment of Local Union 683.  There will be a lot of new retirees within the next 5 years and we need to set an example about caring, and "Got your Back" even in retirement.

Keep looking for updates on your email and the retiree news on the Local Union's web site.

Brother Tim Lucas is on dialysis.  Marilyn Ciardelli is recuperating from neck surgery.  Charlie Liebrock is recuperating from table saw induced hand injury.  John Oday is recuperating from a knee replacement.  We wish these and any other member, a speedy recovery and our prayers go out to you.
